Webinars
Chief Executive and Principal Economist Brad Olsen and Principal Economist and Lead Demographer Nick Brunsdon discuss our latest population insights at a regional level, share insights from the 2023 Census, and outline how to find 2023 Census insights for your area.
Net migration to New Zealand has tumbled down from record highs in 2023, with outflows of New Zealand citizens remaining at record high levels. National population growth has slowed down, and we have seen a general pattern of slowing, uneven population growth around the country. In the October webinar, we profile the winners, losers, and key themes from Stats NZ’s latest (2024) subnational population estimates.
Earlier in October, Stats NZ released the first detailed tranche of 2023 Census data, including detail on individuals and households down to a small area level. In the webinar, Brad and Nick discuss our key takeaways from this data release and what you should look out for in Census data for your local area - plus we briefly profile how to find 2023 Census insights in the rebuilt Census module of the Regional Economic Profile.
