Infometrics recently released the first Infometrics-Foodstuffs New Zealand Grocery Supplier Cost Index (GSCI), to analyse changes in input costs for grocery goods across New Zealand using a detailed, real-time data from Foodstuffs New Zealand.

The new measures the change in the cost of grocery goods charged by suppliers to the Foodstuffs North and South Island cooperatives. Infometrics will publish the Grocery Supplier Cost Index monthly, enabling assessment of cost pressures in the economy.

As our Chart of the Month shows, grocery supplier cost increases have been accelerating over the last year, with a 7.9%pa increase recorded in July 2022.
