After a chaotic and uncertain year, New Zealand deserves a break over the holiday season.
It’s been a massive year for everyone, with 2020 upended by the outbreak of a pandemic which has tipped the global economy into recession and closed borders worldwide. For the Infometrics team, it’s been a busy year as we looked to react quickly to unfolding developments and assess on the fly how the economy might perform. We’re proud to have adapted quickly to the changes forced upon New Zealand and the world, with our team pulling together important resources like reports, dashboards, forecast analysis, and webinars for clients, key decision makers, and the public.
We’re not out of the woods yet, but as the end of 2020 beckons, New Zealand is in a stronger position than we could have dared imagine earlier this year. People have faced tough challenges, and in our interactions across the country it’s clear that spirits are high but energy levels are low. We’re looking forward to taking a short break, as many others are, to take stock, recharge, and get ready for whatever 2021 throws at us.
As is our Christmas tradition, Chief Forecaster Gareth Kiernan has taken a break from spreadsheets and forecasts to pen the Infometrics Christmas Carol... this year’s Carol is sung to the tune of the 12 Days of Christmas, with a distinctively COVID-19 theme…
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
